BREASTSTROKE
- #1 alternate arms and legs, hands past hips (HPH)
- Downward kick
- Downward kick, HPH, One hand touch (OHT), right hand
- Downward kick, HPH
- One Hand Touch, right only
- Alternating kick to surface
- Scissors kick and downward kick
- Head up but not breathing every cycle (legal)- some part of the head just has to break surface.
- Toes not out
|
BUTTERFLY
- Swimmer #1Breaststroke kick (toes out), Swimmer #2 Alternating Kick
- Ugly but Legal- (UWR in swim ? some part of arms are out, have to judge
from calm water surface)
- #1 Under Water Recovery at finish. #2 UWR , alt kick in swim, UWR at finish.
|
BACKSTROKE
- Missed wall on turn
- Missed wall?, toes touch?-benefit goes to swimmer, but left wall past
vertical toward breast
- Standing and adjusting goggles is legal in the middle of the turn- touched while still on
back, adjusted goggles and then left wall on back. Can turn in "any
manner
desired" (including standing on bottom) once a legal touch is made. -Rules
Interpretation guidelines
|
IM BACK TO BREAST TRANSITION
- Possible past vertical but hard to tell from that position- no call
- Past vertical toward breast at touch
- Flip turn at back finish- illegal
- Past vertical at touch (don't have to touch with hands on backstroke, but
he
was past vertical before touched with feet and flip turn not allowed at
back
finish.)
|
FINAL POINTS
- Water distorts view, things aren't always as they appear
- Be in position- breaststroke touch, probably non-simultaneous left first,
but
standing back from the edge, you can't see when the left hand actually
touches
- Benefit of doubt- swimmer may be past vertical but hard to tell at that
angle.
Swimmer gets benefit of doubt.
- See enough of the stroke to make a call. If you catch the tail end of
something, you may "think" the swimmer did something illegal but if you
didn't actually see the illegal action, there's no call.
